Happy Indigenous Peoples Day
Round the World with Cracklin’ Jane celebrates the Holiday Formerly Known As Columbus Day. That’s right folks, we will be celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day by honoring musicians of indigenous background. Along with historical field recordings of traditional music of various tribes, and popular music inspired by Native American themes (Princess Watahwaso, Penobscot mezzo-soprano), we will honor contributors to the evolution of jazz, including Mildred Bailey (Coeur d’Alene of Idaho) and Big Chief Russell Moore (Pima in Arizona). All in Cracklin’ 78 RPM Quadraphonic Hi-fidelity. Then, we’ll listen to Richard Diamond, Private Detective in “Martin White Sees Dead Men”!
